Fourth Daughter
BBC Inroducing Stage
It was my first time experiencing electronic artist and producer Emily Atkinson — better known as Fourth Daughter — live, and her set on the BBC Introducing stage at TRNSMT was nothing short of unforgettable. Returning to the festival, she delivered a performance that was both powerful and deeply captivating. Simply put: she did not disappoint.
What struck me most was how refreshingly original her sound felt. Fourth Daughter blends pulsing electronic beats with emotional lyrics and intimate storytelling, creating a balance of energy and vulnerability that felt unlike anything else I’d heard at the festival. Her music moves seamlessly between euphoric dance tracks and darker, drum’n’bass-inspired moments, giving her songs a dynamic range that captures both joy and melancholy. It’s this ability to tell stories through sound that makes her music so compelling.
Even more impressive was how she commanded the stage entirely on her own. Performing and mixing solo, she had the audience in the palm of her hand — her confidence, presence, and seamless transitions made it look effortless. It’s rare to see one person hold a crowd like that, and she did it with undeniable charisma.
Fourth Daughter has been steadily building momentum on the electronic scene, and her TRNSMT return felt like a breakthrough moment. If there was any doubt, TRNSMT proved that she isn’t just emerging — she’s arriving.
If you’re into artists like RÜFÜS DU SOL or Disclosure, Fourth Daughter is absolutely one to watch. Her sound is growing bigger, bolder, and more distinctive with every performance. I, for one, can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
